Planalto Dourado is 16 km from the A23/25 motorway, between Guarda (district capital) and Pinhel, a charming city 10 minutes away.
In Freixedas, our village, you will find several walking routes where you can enjoy the landscape. You can visit the oldest part of the village as well as the church and chapels.
10 minutes away, towards Alverca / Vila Franca das Naves, is the Bouça Cova dam; in the direction of Pinhel, the Vascoveiro dam; and near Pinhel, on the way to Almeida, you will also find the river beach of Vale de Madeira. In summer, don't miss out on a day spent on the wild beaches of these dams and taking a dip in nature.
We are also right in the center of several circuits to visit historic villages: Trancoso, Marialva, Longroiva, Castelo Rodrigo, Almeida, Castelo Melhor, Sabugal, Sortelha, Castelo Novo, Linhares and even the rock engravings of Vila Nova de Coa or the natural reserve da Faia Brava, with the stunning view from the Faia viewpoint.
